چکیده

Most qualitative simulation techniques perform simulation at a single level of detail highlighting a xed set of distinctions. This can lead to intractable branching within the behavioral description. The complexity of the simulation can be reduced by eliminating uninteresting distinctions. Behavior abstraction provides a hierarchy of behav-ioral descriptions allowing the modeler to select the appropriate level of description highlighting the relevant distinctions. Two abstraction techniques are presented. Behavior aggregation eliminates occurrence branching by providing a hybrid between a behavior tree representation and a history based description. Chatter box abstraction uses attainable envisionment to eliminate intractable branching due to chatter within a behavior tree simulation .

Neuro-ACT Cognitive Architecture Applications in Modeling Driver’s Steering Behavior in Turns

Cognitive Architectures (CAs) are the core of artificial cognitive systems. A CA is supposed to specify the human brain at a level of abstraction suitable for explaining how it achieves the functions of the mind. Over the years a number of distinct CAs have been proposed by different authors and their limitations and potentials were investigated. These CAs are usually classified as symbolic and...

A Formal Specification and Validation of a Critical System in Presence of Byzantine Errors

This paper describes an experience in formal speciication and fault tolerant behavior validation of a railway critical system. The work, performed in the context of a real industrial project, had the following main targets: (a) to validate speciic safety properties in the presence of byzantine system components or of some hardware temporary faults; (b) to design a formal model of a critical rai...

In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements For the Degree of DOCTOR

This research examines an approach to modeling and simulating distributed object computing (DOC) systems as a set of discrete software components mapped onto a set of networked processing nodes. Our overall modeling approach has clearly separated hardware and software components enabling systems level, distributed co-design engineering. The distributed co-design engineering refers to a formal a...
